About Tauchid Komara Yuda

Tauchid Komara Yuda is an Assistant Professor (full-time) in Social Policy at the Department of Social Development and Welfare, UGM, Indonesia and concurrently R&D director at Wiralembaga Indonesia Policy Consultant Ltd. He is also a former visiting Professor of Public Policy at the Department of Society and Health, Mahidol University, Thailand. 

Yuda achieved a bachelor of social science (in social policy) at UGM in 2018 and a master of development policy (in social policy) at KDI School of Public Policy & Management, South Korea in 2020. He is currently pursuing a PhD (in Social Policy) degree at Lingnan University, Hong Kong SAR.

Yuda specialises in the theory of institutions and integrates it into research on social policy reform, welfare regime changes and contemporary social innovation dynamics (social enterpreneurship, Anthropocene risk management, and artificial/institutionalised institution) with particular reference to Southeast and East Asian geographies. A principal aspect of his study offers insights into critiques of welfare capitalism and the domination of an immovable policy landscape.

In addition, Yuda is the author of Social Policy in East Asia: Transforming Ideas and Approaches (in Bahasa, 2021, Yogyakarta: Kanisius Press) and contributed as one of the invited authors for the edited book series, among others, ‘Path-creation: An alternative framework for studying social institutions’ in Social Development and Welfare: Perspectives, Approaches, and Contemporary Issuespublished by UGM Press in 2022 (In Bahasa, edited by Susetiawan., Bahruddin., & M. L. Pinem) and ‘Comparing Social Policy Responses Between Separate Crises: Taking the Case of Indonesia’ in The Covid-19 Pandemic: Problems Arising (edited by Christian Aspalter), launched by Springer Verlag.

Yuda is a co-founding editor of the Journal of Social Development Studies and served as an associate editor for Jurnal Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik(SCOPUS Q3), as well as an ad hoc reviewer for several international journals, such as the Social Policy & Society; International Journal of Social Welfare; Journal of Asian Public Policy; Journal of Human Trafficking; Fudan Journal of the Humanities and Social Sciences; Policy & Society.
